“Dr Glen Rae was my club doctor during my first 2 years at Sunderland AFC. During that time he was always very professional but also friendly when working me and my team mates. He was comfortable dealing with any new injuries as well as any persisting niggling problems. I was always confident seeing him with any football injuries or other medical problems I may have had or my family suffered.”
“Doc Rae was the doctor at Sunderland AFC during my time with the reserves and the first team. He has helped me get back to playing quickly many times after ive picked up injuries and illnesses and I guess the fact I ask him to treat my family confirms the confidence I have in his work.”
“ I was recommended by a friend to visit Glen at Sports Medicine NE after sustaining an injury to my knee playing golf and getting nowhere with my GP and the NHS system. I was told to rest my leg and It could take up to six months to heal. Glen examined my knee joint and recommended I have an injection there and then and I would be up and running after a couple of weeks. I must admit I was a bit sceptical but this boy knows his stuff and I was golfing two weeks later. Not only that but I then some months later I had a shoulder problem which Glen also fixed with a single visit. I have recommended Sports Medicine NE to some of my friends and would suggest that anyone with this kind of problem pays a visit to Glen. It’s money well spent with great results. “DONT SUFFER ANY LONGER!”
“Consulting Dr Rae at Sports Medicine NE was one of the best decisions I’ve made. When my knee pain threatened to stop me doing the things I enjoy I knew it was time to find a solution. A thorough examination and in-depth discussion of treatment options really made me feel that a solution was possible. I had the treatment (Ostenil plus) and have been delighted with the results and I know that Dr Rae will provide continuing support should I need it.”
“Dr Glen Rae was the Club Doctor at Sunderland AFC throughout my time at the club. When I broke my nose and fractured my eye socket during a premier league match against Aston Villa Doc was reassuring and gave me confidence that everything would work out well. The treatment at the time of the injury, knowing what was needed afterwards and his vast range of contacts with other doctors and surgeons working within sports medicine allowed me to return to first team matches much sooner than it was originally thought.“
“I consulted Dr Rae in July 2014 following a long period of being unable to train. I had been used to running up to 40 miles per week and was becoming concerned that I wouldn’t be able to start the Great North Run because my foot was in a bit of a mess. Dr Rae’s clear and concise advice worked really well because only 6 weeks later I managed to start and, more importantly, finish the Great North Run. The following month I also successfully completed the Great Birmingham Run.”
“Whilst I have worked as Head Coach of England U19 and U20 men’s squads Dr Glen Rae has been my Team doctor. He is an integral part of the backroom staff team being able to build professional relationships with staff and players quickly. By demonstrating excellent medical knowledge and with his experience of working at the highest levels of professional sport players and myself are always reassured by his diagnosis and the treatment plans he advised”.
“In sport head coaches, bowling coaches in my case and physios all get huge amounts of credit when things are going well but very rarely do you see doctors get the credit they deserve.
At Durham we are very lucky to have great support staff including a great doctor which is where Glen comes in. Incredibly professional and caring during tough times. Whether it be illness or injury, which I know plenty about. Glen is always there. ”

“A consultation with Dr Rae allowed us to establish what I wanted an Ostenil injection for, that is, so I can put off ankle surgery for advanced osteoarthritis and continue to participate in sports I enjoy.
Dr Rae used ultrasound to carefully assess the best site for the Ostenil Plus injection into my ankle. It wasn’t completely painfree but it was OK. I have had little ankle pain since the injection and will certainly return to Dr Rae for further Ostenil treatment.”
